Thing 6

http://www.dropbox.com/

I chose dropbox for this "thing" because it is an awesome tool for any classroom.  I cannot count how many times I was in school and had simply left my homework at home on the computer with no way of turning it in.  Of course there were jump drives then, but to my knowledge, nothing like Dropbox.  This site is great because it allows anyone to upload files up to 2G for free and have the ability to log on from anywhere and grab what you need from it.  How great is it to have something like this for free?
I will definetely use this in my classroom because I want my students to turn in papers on time, and I want them to succeed.  Having this available for free will be a great tool.  I really like that students can log in from my classroom and edit their papers, print them out, or do their work in class and save it for later.  I understand that some people do not have computers.  There are many low income families that cannot afford computers.  This is why I hope to allow my students enough time in class to use computers and get their work completed.
Drop box is awesome, and I hope you guys will check it out.  It is so helpful!

  1. I have to agree that Dropbox is an amazing website. I first used it in my electronic imaging class and it saved space on the computer hard drive as well as being able to access your work from ANY computer.

I think every student should be required to at least sign up for it. As time moves forward so does technology in the classroom and as excuses transform from "the dog ate it" to "I forgot my jump drive" and/or "I promise I sent it, email must be messed up" it is only natural for Teachers to invest in something that extinguishes those excuses!
